How to Help Your Children Through The Teething Process

Many parents wonder how to help their babies through the teething process. It can be difficult for an infant to have new, sharp teeth and experience pain. Teething babies may have a fever, drool, be irritable, and lack appetite. Parents can help their child by providing relief from the pain, from a pacifier dipped in cold water to lower temperature baths. Babies might also enjoy using a teething ring or toy. Parents need to keep an eye out for signs of distress or discomfort and take care of themselves and their other children during this time. Here is what parents should do during the teething process to help their child

1. Provide Teething Relief

If your baby has teething pain, there are ways to help them with the discomfort. One of the best ways is by providing a teething ring or toy that can be frozen prior to use. This will allow cool their gums and give them some relief from the pain. If you are breastfeeding, you may want to consider using ice chips.

2. Pacifier Teething Rings

If your baby is sucking hard on a pacifier, you can help ease the pain by dunking it in a bowl of cold water or placing it in the freezer for 10 to 15 minutes. This will significantly reduce the amount of pain your baby experiences.

3. Teething Gels

When your baby is teething, you can use teething gels to help relieve the pain. These gels are made with local anesthetics that can numb the area around their teeth and reduce discomfort. If you purchase this type of product, you will want to ensure that it is made without any chemicals or additives that might be dangerous for your child. Make sure to keep these products out of the reach of children if they are not designed for their age group.

4. Teething Masks

Sometimes a baby cannot keep their mouth open, and a teething ring will be uncomfortable for them to hold between their teeth. If this is the case, you can use a stress-free teething mask to help soothe sore gums. This product can be placed over your baby’s face or in their mouth, depending on their preference.

5. Use Teething Crackers

Another natural remedy for sore gums is to use teething crackers to help soothe the pain. You should provide these crackers made of all-natural ingredients as they contain no sugar, no preservatives, and can provide a good source of calcium. Try to give these crackers a few days in advance to allow the pain to subside before use. Do check with the product manufacturer to make sure it is safe for your child.
